Batman Arkham Knight PC release date confirmed for 28th Oct

The PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight is due to go back on sale this week, four months after it was pulled from Steam and shop floors following multiple performance issues. Set to arrive on 28th October, Arkham Knight will come with a rather large patch to fix its various problems.

The patch will also bring the PC version of the game up to date with its PS4 and Xbox One counterparts, including a swathe of new content that's been released for the console versions in the intervening months. This includes Photo Mode, Big Head Mode, an Arkham Asylum Batman skin and the ability to pick your character in the combat AR challenges.

Season pass holders, meanwhile, will have access to everything released since launch, including AR challenges, two Crime Fighter challenge packs, Batmobile race tracks, Arkham Episode story packs, and various character and Batmobile skins.

"We want to give particular thanks to the members of the PC community who took the time to give us clear, detailed feedback and bug reporting," the company said on the game's Steam Community page . "Now, get out there and Be The Batman!"

Arkham Knight, which originally launched back in June, was received extremely well by critics, including our own Tom Morgan, who said it had a "masterful story" which "shines a new light on Batman that will genuinely surprise even the most ardent of fans." You can read our full review here .

Before the game was pulled from sale, the PC version was locked to 30fps, with cutscenes often falling to single figure frame rates. Indeed, turning the camera in my own PC copy of the game often turned into a slideshow of motion blur. Eurogamer also spotted that several graphical effects on the console versions, such as reflections and rain drops on Batman and the Batmobile, which weren't present on the PC version, adding yet more fuel to the game's disastrous launch.

At present, the minimum and recommended specs for the Arkham Knight remained unchanged, so you'll still need a pretty powerful PC in order to play the game smoothly. The minimum specs are as follows, but as you can see, they're not particularly lightweight:

OS: Win 7 SP1, Win 8.1 (64-bit Operating System Required)

Processor: Intel Core i5-750, 2.67 GHz | AMD Phenom II X4 965, 3.4 GHz

Memory: 6 GB RAM

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 (2GB Memory Minimum) | AMD Radeon HD 7950 (3GB Memory Minimum)

DirectX: Version 11

Network: Broadband Internet connection required

Hard Drive: 45 GB available space

Here's hoping that the patch will fix all of Arkham Knight's problems, but I'll report back once I've had a chance to try out the new version for myself when it releases later this week.
